How did we align the risk management approach across a company?

Challenge:
Our client is a leading supplier of pork and other meat products to retail and food service industries. Following a period of rapid growth by acquisition, the company needed to bolster its risk and crisis management processes, align all its business units’ procedures, and embed the new approach company wide.

Action:
As part of a two-year project to review, update and embed their Crisis Management & Business Continuity process, Instinctif Partners worked with the board to review its Risk Register to identify gaps. We then reviewed the Crisis Manual, agreed new escalation and decision-making processes, and recommended and drafted the additional content required. We briefed the new Manual at a roll-out training event attended by over 50 business and site directors, testing understanding with a simulated crisis exercise and in a subsequent crisis media training for senior executives. We trained the site directors on embedding the new procedure at their sites via site simulation exercises.

Result:
Our client’s senior management and site crisis teams are aligned in their approach to risk management and are equipped to manage developing issues and live crises with clearly defined roles, responsibilities and procedures.
