Instinctif Partners runs communications masterclass for London charity

Instinctif Partners teamed up with London based charity London Youth last week, to host a communications masterclass with teenagers aiming to develop their skills and confidence.

London Youth are a youth organisation on a mission to improve the lives of young people in London. They provide access to opportunities the young people may not otherwise have had, and support them in gaining the skills needed to navigate a fulfilling career and make positive contributions in their communities.

Around fifteen participants, aged 14-17, were involved in the masterclass, which aimed to build leadership skills and provide an introduction to careers that the group would not have otherwise considered. The event included workshops on a typical day working in Public Relations and Public Affairs, with tasks set to develop strategic thinking and campaign planning. After the session, 90% of the attendees scored the Instinctif masterclass 8 or higher out of ten – stating it left them with a positive opinion of communications as a potential career.

Instinctif Partners supports a number of charities focused on improving the lives of young people. It devised a communications strategy for the ASHA Trust, a provider of Early Childhood Development (ECD) and support programmes for home-based crèches in disadvantaged communities in South Africa. They also have a partnership with children’s education charity, School-Home Support (SHS), working on a grassroots level with the children and parents SHS supports and on a corporate level developing a communications programme.

Sophie Hewitt, Youth Action Delivery Manager at London Youth said “This masterclass, run by Instinctif, was a helpful ‘behind the scenes’ look into PR and engaging the media for young people on the programme. Those that attended told us they really enjoyed learning more about what a PR agency is and how stories make the news, especially by being in the building of a thriving PR firm. They also gained useful insight into different ways to get the message out about the campaigns they are running this summer. Many thanks to Instinctif for hosting us and sharing expertise.”
