How do we introduce retail water competition in England and Wales?
Following their successful de-regulation of the market in Scotland, the Scottish economic regulator wanted to promote the benefits of the Scottish competitive model and push for a similar roll out in England.
Against the backdrop of significant and very vocal opposition to market change, we created a coalition of advocates by engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including politicians, consumer groups and intensive business users.
Our public affairs programme delivered the enactment of the Water Bill in 2014, creating an Anglo-Scottish retail water market. We continue to work with WICS to aid a timely market opening by April 2017.
