How can your leadership best handle media questions and crisis?
In the speed and volume of information nowadays makes it essential for any government departments to have a rapid response to demands for facts and data. The Education Bureau and Correctional Services Department of Hong Kong needed to ensure their leaders were prepared to handle anything that came their way.
For the Correctional Services Department, we conducted a full-day senior command course for its 16 superintendents who are Heads of Institution / Section / Unit. For the Education Bureau, we arranged a full-day media training and crisis management workshop for 60 principals and vice principals from both primary and secondary schools.
In both workshops, we introduced the knowledge of the media landscape and practices as well as crisis management guidelines of handling media inquiries and drafting responses. Scenarios were drafted as interactive exercise to maximize the learning experience.
The leaders of both these departments feel more confident and prepared as a result of the sessions.
