Account Manager – Public Policy

Following a sustained period of new client wins, we are looking for an ambitious and talented Account Manager to bolster and expand our Public Policy team.


This role offers a successful candidate an opportunity to work in some of the most exciting political and economic environments that are driving change right across our clients. From delivering Net-Zero programmes, driving sustainability, building much needed homes, to helping the world achieve its sustainability development goals; our clients transcend some of the biggest and most exciting challenges that the UK, and the world faces.


The successful candidate will be working across political PR and comms, as well as traditional public affairs – helping to create impactful campaigns that target right at the heart of Government, international institutions and global leaders.


We are looking for someone who is passionate about the joint spheres of politics and business, capable of bringing new ideas and creativity to solving our clients’ communications challenges in original and innovative ways.



Role and responsibilities

  • managing programmes for a portfolio of clients whilst maintaining excellent relationships
  • overseeing and writing coherent and factually accurate research papers, Parliamentary briefs and media content, supported by strategic recommendations, which only require exceptional amendments from Account Directors and Partners
  • planning and leading meetings, ensuring they are well organised and that participants are fully briefed on meeting contents
  • in discussion with the lead partner on the account, begin to take informed judgements on understanding the strategy to deliver against the client’s objectives and what tactics you might deploy to meet them
  • identifying and developing new business opportunities in a range of sectors
  • taking a key role at new business pitches
  • developing and maintaining expertise in specific client sectors and related policy fields
  • contributing to the internal strategy and growth of the business
  • engaging in political networking opportunities, such as think tank meetings and so on
  • motivating more junior members of the team


The candidate:

  • Passionate about politics and business and keen to join an ambitious team
  • Experience of working in a successful consultancy or relevant in-house position – ideally with experience of both Public Affairs and B2B communications
  • Awareness of and adherence to the PRCA Lobbying Code of Practice once in post
  • Proven experience in a policy / public affairs / political comms role
  • Good understanding of UK political institutions and processes
  • Experience of managing client teams of various sizes – being a client’s daily point of contact, providing advice and guidance, and managing relationships
  • Focus on ensuring efficient, high quality day-to-day delivery of client programmes
  • Able to think strategically in maintaining momentum on client accounts
  • Able to draft written materials that are well-informed and audience appropriate, requiring minimal amends from senior team members
  • Comfortable working in a team and able to manage junior colleagues effectively
  • Able to plan and manage the organisation of client events
  • Able to recognise a crisis situation and know how to escalate response
  • Good understanding of the media, communication and business skills needed to run accounts
  • Good knowledge and understanding of digital communications
  • Appetite to participate in the development of new business opportunities, proposals and pitch presentations
