David Gauke

David Gauke was an MP from 2005 to 2019 and a Government minister from 2010 to 2019. From 2010 to 2016 he was the Treasury Minister responsible for the tax system including business rates and SDLT before becoming Chief Secretary to the Treasury (2016-17), Secretary of State for Work & Pensions (2017-18) and Secretary of State for Justice and Lord Chancellor (2018-19).
In October 2024, he was asked by the current Government to chair the Independent Sentencing Review which reported in May 2025.
David is a regular columnist for the New Statesman and Conservative Home.
