United States 2020 Presidential Race: Democratic Leadership Tracker

As the United States 2020 Presidential Race kicks off, Democratic Party candidates have wasted no time in campaigning for the chance to sit in the Oval Office, replacing a Republican government. Their chances of achieving this seem to be increasing as recent congressional elections have shown growing support for Democratic candidates. As of July 2019, over 20 Democrats have announced their campaigns, with political veterans and newbies both vying for the presidency.

This tracker outlines the road to the November 2020 election and assesses the strengths and weaknesses of the top candidates. However, as the surprising 2016 presidential elections have shown, it is too early to make definitive predictions on who may gain the Democratic nomination, let alone win the presidency. Yet, it is still important to see where the fancied candidates stand early on while momentum for the election is being gathered.

As the second round of Democratic leadership contender debates occurred this week, signalling a step up in scrutiny of the top candidates, Instinctif Partners has produced a document that outlines the election process as a whole and analyses the standings of the candidates based on polling in the summer of 2019.
