Estate agents and housebuilders are frequently discussed in the same breath as energy companies and banks – consumers don’t typically view them as trusted brands. According to the 2018 Ipsos Mori Veracity Index, estate agents rank in the top five least trusted professions, alongside journalists, politicians and ad executives. With greater scrutiny placed on the sector and a raft of legislative changes coming in including the tenancy fees ban and housing ombudsman, the sector is under pressure to better establish trust, transparency and quality. The housing industry impacts every single person at multiple stages in their lifetime – we grow up with a roof over our head, we enter the rental market, we aspire to homeownership and some of us become landlords. But how many customers return to the same brand time and time again and how do you keep them engaged?
